The new notes are smaller than the older ones which is also a major point of fascination to the people.

The first people to have a hold of new currency after a long wait have described the notes as looking as a “Dollar.”

Funny enough, others have stated that the Lion in the New currency has closed its eyes. Maybe its true, wait till you get hold on the new currency to judge it.

In less than four months the old ksh 1000 notes would seize to be legal tender. The Central Bank has however stated that the ones will be unaffected by the move to phase out ksh. 1000 notes.

The move to phase out ksh. 1000 was informed by the fact that the issue of counterfeit was on an elevation scale. More so , it was a smart tactic by President Uhuru Kenyatta to fight graft which has deep roots in the systems of the government.

The move to start circulation of the new notes has been hit with a lot of controversy most legislatures siting the breach of the constitution in minting of the notes. The main point brewing the controversy being the statue of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta on the note.

The Central Bank of Kenya through Governor Patrick Njoroge stated that all the constitutional guidelines were followed in the minting of the new currency and even went ahead to dare the legislatures to address their concerns through a court process.
