Following a huge assignment handed over to him of overseeing a currency change that targets money launderers, firebrand Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has been secretly invited by the globe’s best investigators- FBI.
Less than a year after his appointment in August 2018, Kinoti has overseen the arrests of top government officials and also sanitized the otherwise dangerous estates of crime.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations has arranged a crash meeting set to add the country’s top sleuth the much-needed impetus to tackle graft.
This happens just days after Chief Justice David Maraga delivered a powerful speech in the United Kingdom castigating the executive and legislature of abetting corruption.
Kinoti is said to have been invited to come to Washington DC alongside The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji.
Reports by a section of the media indicate that Kinoti may take with him a team of top investigators in the country in what is said to be a drill on methods of fighting graft.
Responding to an earlier interview question by The Star, Kinoti said that he was aware there are disgruntled people opposed to his war on corruption and contraband in the country. He reiterated that he remains unmoved.
At one point in his career, Kinoti’s car was sprayed with 28 bullets by thugs who had been trailing him after they got wind he was following up on his case.
Kinoti was shot in the head and stomach, narrowly escaping death during the ordeal.
They are expected to spend some three days in DC before moving to New York for another two days.
