Who us this man Fred Matiang’i to be used as the face of the new Ksh200 Note? That is the question on everyone’s lips after noticing what has been termed as deliberate mischief and contempt for the people of Kenya who overwhelmingly voted for the new constitution.
The @CBKKenya led by @njorogep is peddling propaganda to hide the fact that contrary to the constitution it retained the portrait of #Dictator Jomo Kenyatta on the currency & added Fred Matiangi, pretender to the non existent Prime Minister post. Article 231 of the constitution categorically states that no one’s portrait will be on the face of the notes or coins. That is why we wanted the new currency.
We all noticed Jomo Kenyatta's portrait on the new generation currency notes ….. but apparently, CBK helped Matiangi sneak his way into the 200 shilling note too 🙂 #Kenya pic.twitter.com/ftP00U5WpN

While activists like Okiya Omtatah have moved to court challenging the use of Mzee Kenyatta’s portrait on all the new notes, we hadn’t noticed that CBK had also sneaked Matiang’i, the head boy of all Cabinet Secretaries.
i think this notes are far much better than the ones they want to switch to @ntvkenya @OkiyaOmtatah if you take a look at the back 200 notes they have produced it has Matiangi's picture on it why in Gods name is he there to begin with . pic.twitter.com/qmDHOsIfmQ

Early this year, President Uhuru Kenyatta handed Matiang’i sweeping powers on the oversight of Government programmes when he appointed him the Chair of the Committee of implementation of development programmes. Some people described this as chief minister.
Could we assume that in his capacity as chief minister, Matiangi directed CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge to include his image on the new currency?
If he's Matiangi, it's obvious that the government under the leadership of one Uhuru Kenyatta doesn't respect our constitution and citizens of the Republic of Kenya. pic.twitter.com/Pu9yA5BsLY

The only other reason that could explain this violation of the constitution could be that President Uhuru Kenyatta is preparing Matiang’i to succeed him in 2022 and has elevated him to the same level with his father Mzee Kenyatta, the only other Kenyan on the new currency.
Matiang’i himself is not new to violating the constitution. In March 2018, High Court Judge George Odunga fined Matiang’i Ksh200,000 for disobeying court orders in the case involving NRM General Miguna Miguna.
