Rift Valley MP: Uhuru Will not Endorse Ruto in 2022

As the 2022 political race to the house on top of the hill takes shape, the rift between Deputy president William Ruto and his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta continues to widen thanks to the 2018 March handshake that is keeping Uhuru loyal to his newly found ‘brother’ Raila Odinga.

The growing concerns among the rift valley residents, Ruto’s backyard on whether Uhuru will support Ruto or not has kept many legislatures from the region talking on what the community should expect come 2022.

William Kamket

The DP’s open defiance to his boss has made things worse for him and it seems he has accepted his fate, that Uhuru’s endorsement is not assured in 2022. This has made the DP so humble and in many occasions, he has insisted that he is ready to face any other candidate in the nominations.

The unity that once existed between the Jubilee party has so far been threatened by the emergence of two opposing camps Kieleweke and the Tanga tanga sides. The two rival camps have aligned themselves to both Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.

Top officials within the party who run affairs of the ruling party take direct orders from the president and have so far managed to keep off the DP from getting his hands on the party’s instruments of power.

And what is considered a clear indication of bending betrayal, Tiaty MP William Kamket has echoed the voices of some Mt. Kenya legislators saying that President Uhuru Kenyatta has no debt with anybody in Kenya and that it is not automatic that he will support Ruto in 2022.

Kamket said the disintegration of Jubilee has been facilitated by politicians elected on the party’s ticket who have decided to go down with the party.

“Jubilee will fade the same way PNU, NARC and other political parties faded. There are many things happening in succession politics that I know and you (ordinary citizens) don’t know,” the Kanu lawmaker said.

While speaking in Moiben constituency in Uasin Gishu county, Kamket observed that Uhuru Kenyatta will not endorse his Deputy in 2022 saying by the time Kenyans get to 2022, Jubilee party will be no more and new political formation in which Uhuru may be a key player will have been formed.

Kamket is who is a KANU MP is a close confidant of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and he is highly likely that he is talking on behalf of his boss Moi who is expected to be endorsed by Uhuru Kenyatta for the top seat in 2022.

This, as observed by many will be a form of “thank you” from Uhuru who was endorsed by Moi in 2002. Moi basically picked up Uhuru, dusted him, clothed him and showed him how to grab the reigns of power.

The Baringo MP was accompanied  by Baringo Woman Representative Gladwell Cheruiyot and Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar.

Kamkatet, on what was seen as a reference to William Ruto insisted that no leader should think they can restrict the residents of Rift Valley to vote towards a single direction, saying the region will have two presidential candidates in 2022.
