In a local community, it is believed drunken and rowdy behaviour poses a very significant problem. Alcohol can reduce your inhibitions and self-control and lead to increased levels of aggression.
Drinking environments can be busy and overcrowded, have poor ventilation and increased levels of anti-social behaviour that may all have a negative impact on your own state of mind.
In Kenya, 60% of alcohol consumed is illicit brew despite it being declared illegal. The alcohol control Act of 2010 was enacted to regulate the quality and hours of alcohol consumption.
Not only is the drink addictive but scientifically associated with violent behaviours this as alcohol increases the likelihood of one perpetrating violence against someone else.
Dr Matiang’i together with Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai have since toured Kakamega to assess the security situation.
During the visit Matiang’i said some politicians had formed vigilantes for their selfish interests that led to the killings, as the groupings try to outshine each other, even as he extended an olive branch for the gang members to surrender before they are flashed out by police.
“We will go to the direction the investigations will take. We don’t care who you are under the political class and your status in society. We will arrest and deal with you as per the law,” he sounded the warning.
Do you believe this patrols by GSU will be fruitful in recovering security in Matungu?
