Residents of Bula village, Isiolo County, were on Wednesday last week left in shock after a man reportedly cut his private part using a razor blade while under the influence of drugs.

According to the man’s mother, the incident occurred when 27-year-old Abshiro Abdi was cutting his nails.

Abdi is reportedly receiving treatment at the Isiolo Referral Hospital where he was rushed following the incident.

The hospital’s administrator, Dr. Hussain Abdi Mohamud, confirmed assertions that the man was under the influence of drugs, adding that he was unconscious when he was taken to the facility.

“There’s a segment of the blood missing… once he heals he will be able to urinate properly. His production in terms of family will not be affected but we will consult with surgeons so that we see if he can be helped in other ways,” said Dr. Mohamud.

He urged the youth to refrain from using drugs saying they are endangering their health.

“Youth should abstain from using any form of drugs, since it will destroy their future life and also affect them mentally,” he added.

This is not the first time men are engaging in bizarre acts of chopping their manhood.

May last year, an 18 year old man in Sirigoi village,Kakamega county shocked resident after he chopped off his manhood because girls do not accept his advances.

Timothy Ofwaya reportedly cut off his penis using a razor blade after locking himself up because no woman wants to be his girlfriend.

His father, Mr. Ofwaya said he had noticed the boy had exhibited signs of depression but they did not know it was to do with women issues and did not anticipate his reaction.

He was admitted at the Kakamega County referral hospital.

Last year, a 55-year-old man died after chopping off his manhood using scissors in Ngerwe village in Embu county.

Dominic Mugo died due to severe bleeding while he was being ferried to hospital after July 30 incident.

Embu North Deputy County Commissioner Jeremiah Tumo said the villagers called for a car that carried him to Embu Level Five hospital but the poor farmer was pronounced dead on arrival.

The commissioner said the deceased did the unthinkable act due to mental problems as he was a frequent user of bhang.

“It’s true the man chopped of his manhood in what seems to be a mental problem associated with his frequent drug abuse. The villagers said they were scared of the man as he had a history of being violent,” said the commissioner then.

This came after a man who chopped off his manhood and attempted to cut off his wife’s breast in 2016 caused drama at Thika Level Five hospital when he realised that his genitals were missing.

Mr Duncan Musweti, 24, is said to have attempted to escape the hospital screaming but the nurses managed to get hold of him.

The hospital’s senior-Nursing-officer Catherine Mwihia, said Mr Musweti seemed to be living in denial of his current state.

“He has successfully undergone a reconstructive surgery at the hospital but could be suffering from mental instability. He is currently on psychotropic medication,’ said Mrs Mwihia.

Doctors had put a catheter on his genitals to allow him pass urine without difficulties after they were unable to fix back the completely severed body part.

Mr Musweti allegedly committed the act on the fateful night on grounds of alleged infidelity on the part of his wife Maureen Achieng.

After an argument, an angry Musweti woke up later that night and unsuccessfully tried to chop off his wife’s breast before venting his fury on his genitals.

A remorseful Musweti lamented that he did not know what drove into the act.

In addition, a Kamiti inmate Francis Karuri cut off his manhood because apparently, he was not included in the list of inmates to be pardoned by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

More recently in January this year, a 25-year-old man from Kericho chopped off his manhood under unclear circumstances.

According to a witness who was in his Momoniat Estate house in Nyagacho area, heard screams from his neighbour Samuel Muchiri’s house.

“On rushing to the scene, I found that Muchiri had cut off his penis,” he said.It is unclear why he chopped it off.Image result for african woman with machete

This comes years after a man in Kirinyaga chopped his own manhood for being “useless”.

On the New Year’s day of 2016, Leonard Kimotho was reported to have chopped off his genitals, saying they were of no use.

Reports indicate that Kimotho had been looking for a girlfriend for the longest time but could not land one.

Frustrated, the 25-year-old  would grab a kitchen knife and chop of his genitals in protest.
