Over 6,000 high profile delegates including world leaders are expected to attend the conference which will focus on exploring lasting solutions to challenges facing women, with gender equality issues expected to take centre stage.

The president will also hold talks with the Canadian PM on the sidelines of the global conference. This is the second time Trudeau is inviting Uhuru to Canada in a span of one year.

In June 2018, the PM invited the Kenyan leader alongside other world leaders to attend the G7 Summit which addresses gender inequality, equity, climate change, security and the blue economy. During the summit, Uhuru was also granted the opportunity to give a keynote speech.

While the two are out of the country, Deputy President William Ruto will take charge of all the government operations until Uhuru jets back.
