Bandari’s Yema Mwana scores a brace to win the Sportpesa shield cup

Bandari who finished second in the Kenya Premier League are this year’s SportPesa Shield Cup Champions after beating last year’s winners and Sport Pesa cup winners Kariobangi Sharks.

The match which postponed from 1st June after it poured heavily to prompt the referees to put off the clash to the following day 2nd June from 11 am at Kasarani International Stadium and had to start from a half point with Bandari leading 2-1.

Bandari was the first to open the scores in the early minutes of the match with Wadri getting a goal for the dockers and Yema Mwana added a second one in the 26th minute before the two sides broke for the break amidst a heavy downpour.

But Kariobangi was not giving up as easily, they got a consolation goal a long cracker shot of a goal from Patiala Omotto was a consolation enough for the break and a call off to the match.

The sides took over from where they had stopped and on the second day with Benjamin Mosha scoring the third goal with his chest in the 80th minute making it a victory for the dockers’ rain or sunshine.

Kariobangi Sharks who are the 2018 SportPesa Shield champions following a 3-2 win over Sofapaka in the final played, October 20, 2018, at the Kasarani Stadium have a date with Everton early in July and have to play their cards well if they will have any chance to prove their worth.
