Why governor Mandago’s life is in Danger

The recent Killing of Mandago’s brother was a clear message that he might not be the one who was targetted but the governor may be due to his strong stand on 2022 succession matrix.

Police yesterday said that they are investigating the circumstances under which he was killed and his body dumped in an incomplete building at Chepkanga market on Monday, some 10 kilometers from Eldoret town.

Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat condoled with Mr. Mandago’s family and called for speedy investigations.

“The security agencies should get to the bottom of this heinous act. How sure are we about the safety of our people?” he posed, taking security agencies to task over their lax that has led to frequent burglaries.

Police suspect the man, who was an employee of the Kenya Pipeline in Eldoret, may have been murdered and his body dumped in a section of a building that is under construction.

Moiben Deputy County Commissioner Lilian Langat said investigations had been launched. “Indeed, several people have recorded statements with the police and a post-mortem would be conducted soon,” she said.

“The body was found in an abandoned section of the building and police are carrying out the investigations so that we get to know exactly what happened,” said Langat.

Mandago’s brother joins the lists of prominent Kenyans whose deaths remain unsolved to date.

Then Kabete MP, his driver, and two bodyguards were shot dead in Nairobi on the dawn of February 6, 2015. Four suspects are in remand as the trial continues.

Sheikh Abubakar Shariff aka Makaburi

The fiery jihadist Sheikh Abubakar Shariff aka ‘Makaburi’, who had predicted his own death, was shot dead by unknown gunmen on April 1, 2014. He was felled by a hail of bullets as he left the Shimo La Tewa Maximum Prison in Mombasa in the evening as he awaited a decision from the Shanzu Law Courts. He had been accused of being an Al Shabaab supporter. To date, his death remains a mystery.

The former Juja MP died on the night of November 17, 2013, after consuming a highly toxic chemical believed to have been mixed with his drink at a bar in Thika Town. Six people have been put on trial which is still ongoing.

 Meshack Yebei

He was linked to the International Criminal Court cases. It is not clear if he was a witness for either the prosecution or the defence. Yebei went missing from his home area in Eldoret in December 2014 and his badly mutilated body was found in March 2015 at the Tsavo National Park. His murder remains unresolved.
