The young Lawrence Masira has been named as the Face of Player Escort ambassador for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in Egypt. He’s famously known for receiving an official signed jerseys and boots from Arsenal player Mesut Ozil back in April.
According to a post on social media by popular radio presenter Jalang’oo, Masira – formerly a herdsboy – has received an express appointment from Visa Kenya to escort players into the field during the AFCON matches starting June.
“He was appointed the Visa Players Escort ambassador, him and 4 other children in Kenya and another 1000 will be going to Egypt Afcon and they will be walking with the players into the pitch!” Posted happy Jalang’oo.

Apart from Masira, 4 other kids will be selected to be part of the player escort squad at AFCON 2019.
Entries are open for any child aged 6 – 10 with an unstoppable story that demonstrates overcoming physical, emotional and/or financial hurdles.
This year’s Afcon will be the 32nd edition of the international men’s football championship of Africa and will be hosted from 21st June with the final to be played on 19th July 2019 in Egypt.
