Nairobi county demolishes second building bordering Ruto’s newly acquired KSh 3Billion hotel

City hall has demolished a Structure that had been erected at the CBD a few months after it was set up and given licences by the same county.

Pimp my ride was a posh car wash that attracted high-end owners of vehicles in town as well as offering other services besides car wash.

Pimp my ride was constructed after the famous simmers club that stood for years and commanded a huge number of clients was demolished by city hall and NEMA on allegations that it was polluting the environment.

Across the road on the western side of the troubled piece of land that has hosted the two structures that exist no more is 680 Hotel.

According to taxi operators who operate in the area, 680 Hotel co-existed friendly with Simmers for decades until it was acquired by DP William Ruto at SH 3Billion.

During the time thatSimmers existed, it was hard to distinguish customers from the two hotels as each offer different services that customers from each would source across the roads.Image result for ruto

According to sources, the crackdown on Simmers that was owned by former Kimili MP Murunga, the night club had less to do with what NEMA and City Hall called Pollution but had more to do with the William Ruto, the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, and the new owner of 680 Hotel.

Simmers has been a nuisance to the new crop of guests at 680 Hotel, a senior manager at 680 Hotel said, but requested not to be identified for fear of antagonizing his employer.

Mr Ruto acquired the popular 10-storey 680 Hotel in the heart of the city in 2016 from Sentrim Group of Hotels owned by Indian tycoon Jac Patel. He has been refurbishing it into a more luxurious outfit to tap the growing demand of budget travellers who can’t afford the five-star hotels within the city centre and its environment.

Pimp my ride demolition

Officials from the county of Nairobi who oversaw the demolition allege that it was an illegal structure which had to be brought down. The owner of the business watched in shock as the bulldozers brought down the structure that was running on County Government licenses issued from city hall.

“I had a clothes business here and officials just came in the early morning and started arresting people and marking our structures,” Kenja Muthui, a businessman there stated.

“We do not know why this happened and I do not know what I will do next as this was my source of livelihood.”
