A 49-year-old slayqueen has been handed a seven-year jail term after admitting to drugging an officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and stealing his gun and two smartphones.

The lady identified as Lydia Njeri Mwangi is said to have invited officer Peter Kilemi for a drink at Ndege View pub in Utawala where they indulged in the alcohol.

However, Njeri would drug the officer and feign drunkenness before telling Kilemi to drop her home.

It is while on the way to Njeri’s house when Kilemi felt extremely drowsy that he decided to pull over.

Njeri is said to have robbed the police officer of his two phones and a Czeska pistol loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Njeri told the court that she sold the two phones to a Ugandan while she threw the gun inside a pit latrine in her house.

Officers drawn from the DCI would on May 15 head to Njeri’s house to empty the pit latrine where they recovered the soiled pistol.

Kilemi was to wake up the following day of being drugged and report the case in Utawala Police station from where investigations would be launched.

Makadara chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga sentenced the middle-aged Njeri to serve 5 years in prison for illegally being in possession of a firearm and two years for stealing a gun and two smartphones from Kilemi.

She would, however, appeal for leniency, saying she was a single mother who had children to take care of.

“When I realised that I had stolen a gun, I threw it in a pit latrine,” Njeri told the court.

However, Justice Nyaga would take none of it.

“I find that there are cases on the rise of people who call themselves slay queens. Their work is to go to clubs and look for someone to drug and steal their valuables,” said the Justice Nyaga.
