Waititu’s 2 Million daily expenditure that MCAs are not aware of

Governor Ferdinand Waititu is being clouded by numerous allegation painting him as a corruption king running dry Kiambu County.

In a new series of events that evoked the wrath of EACC, Governor Ferdinand Waititu is under probe on how he spent 2 Million daily without involving the approval of the county assembly.

Between July and December 2018, the Kiambu County government spent over Sh356 million to finance operations of the controversial rehabilitation programme by Governor Ferdinand Waititu dubbed “Kaa sober”.

This expenditure of 2 million is contrary to the Public Finance Management Act.

The money which was supposed to transform the lives of the people who are lost in drunkenness did not serve its purpose as most of it was used to pay salaries of the officials running the program.

The arrest of Governor Waititu came a day after the Kiambu County Assembly hurriedly passed a supplementary budget in which it approved an expenditure of Sh722 million under the controversial programme.

The MCAs’ action, which also raised the county’s annual budget from Sh15.6 billion to Sh16.9 billion, was widely seen as a scheme to sanitise the controversial expenditure in which millions of shillings are suspected to have been lost.

Hon Ferdinand Waititu is also being investigated over awarding of tenders to his close proxies and family members.
