Raila Breaks Silence on Role He Played on Exposing the Fake Gold

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has for the first time opened up on the role he played in exposing the fake gold linke with ANC Party Leader Moses Wetangula.

Raila was speaking in Kitutu Chache North in Kisii County during David Ombati, the first Gusii medic’s burial, the ODM leader revealed that he is the one that exposed the fake gold scammers.

“I was with the Arabs when they received the call from the fraudsters who told them that they had their gold consignment and even sent a photo,” Raila revealed.

Raila narrated that the scammers told the Arabs they were in the company of Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i.

“So I told the Arabs to tell them to put Mr Matiangi on the phone. When he came on he said, this is Matiangi, I confirm we have your consignment and if you comply to our conditions, we will transfer your consignment to Wajir Airport where you can go and pick it up,” Odinga cited.

“It is at this point, that I interjected and told the Arabs that they are being duped and that those are notorious conmen,” he continued.

“I want to assure you that on this matter of the fake gold, Mr Matiangi is as clean as cotton wool,” Odinga explained.

On Friday morning, People Daily reported that a businessman may have also invoked the name of Dubai ruler after he realised he might have been conned.

The publication also reported that in a statement, through the UAE ambassador to Kenya Khalid Mualla, UAE clarified that the ruler of Dubai was never swindled money in any gold scandal.

A leaked phone call conversation between Wetyangula and Ali Zhandi revelead that Wetangula was among the major players in the linked deal;
