EACC sleuths raided Kiambu Governor’s homes in search for documents linked to the irregular awarding of tenders amounting to half a billion shillings to his close family members; money laundering and conflict of interest.
EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak said that during the searches, valuable evidence to the investigations was recovered. The officers later took the Governor, his wife, and daughter to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission offices to Integrity Centre for questioning over claims of graft.
It is alleged that the daughter who is a student at Strathmore University, has accumulated 100M in her bank account. The money that has shocked citizens of the county is said to have been deposited into her account in 8 months.
Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna has alleged that the raid and arrest of Waititu ought to have occurred AFTER not BEFORE evidence has been collected, reviewed and found credible.
The commission has been conducting a lifestyle audit on Waititu and says they have gathered crucial information that they are now using as the basis of their investigations.
KRA is also investigating if he has paid his taxes in the past years. Waititu has denied claims of corruption and insisted his property was legally acquired.
Anticipatory Bail, is an innovative right not in our Constitution but can only be given by the High Court …. The alleged Anticipatory Bail given by a Magistrate in Kiambu to Ferdinand Waititu should be torn up & the Magistrate dismissed. High Court has exclusive jurisdiction.
