Waititu Denies Milking Kiambu Billions within 1 Year

Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu has denied allegations that he has siphoned the County coffers billions within one year to fund his own projects.

DCI officers have obtained a court order to arrest Waititu over economic crimes.

EACC Spokesman Yassin Amaro says the officers are searching the homes in Runda and Garden estate.

Also raided is a Nairobi house where his daughter lives.

Amaro says the investigation touch on various issues related to corruption and that the Governor will be taken to EACC for questioning.

In a recent interview, Waititu said that he is being targetted due to his close relation to the deputy president maintaining that he hasn’t stolen any property.

“I’m not a thieve, and before venturing into politics, I was rich and I had a lot of money as the house I’m staying, I built even before joining politics, they should go for people like Maina Kamanda who have stolen from the people,” he said.

He was also quoted saying that he is ready to deputize the DP comes 2022 and later he will succeed comes 2032.

“Apart from me, who else do you think in Central is capable of mounting a serious push for the DP position? It is only me, wachana na hao wengine (forget the rest). My record speaks for itself. When I set my eyes on something, I never fail,” Waititu once told The Nairobian.

Governor Waititu lives by the mantra that power does not come without wealth and influence, which explains his new acquisition of property and proximity to DP Ruto.

Embattled Ekeza Sacco chairman Bishop David Ngare Kariuki aka Gakuyo recently claimed that Waititu was behind the downfall of the Ekeza Sacco.

He said that Waititu tricked him and he was forced to fund his campaign with sh 400 million.

“I assisted Waititu with Sh400 million which was part of Gakuyo Real estate and he won the seat then started fighting us. He started applying 48 Rules of Power to finish us” Gakuyo claimed.

It is claimed that Gakuyo was promised a big position in Kiambu government if Waititu won but that was not fulfilled. He has now embarked on a campaign to criticize Waititu and his ilk.

A source familiar with developments has stated that Waititu’s criminal activities have made him acquire more enemies than friends, especially from the Mount Kenya region.

Earlier in 2017, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko had warned Kiambu residents against electing Waititu noting that he is a thief who is only interested with power to acquire wealth.

Sonko had said that Waititu criminal record is known to many and that why he was chased from Nairobi.
