Deputy President William Ruto has declared that if he losses the 2022 presidential bid he will have no option than joining the opposition of the day.

Ruto claimes that he will have no problem conceding defeat should he lose the contest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 2022 Presidential elections.

“Mungu akiniwezesha kama nitakuwa candidate, tukishindwa tutaenda upinzani. Hatutahangaisha wakenya na kesi, maandamano ama swearing in. (If God enables me to be the Jubilee candidate in 2022, if we lose, we will accept, we won’t go to court, demonstrate or do fake swearing-ins, we will join the opposition),” he said.

Speaking during a live interview on Kameme FM, Ruto said he will instead take up the role of Leader of Opposition and hold the incoming government to account.

The DP at the same time defended his nationwide tours saying they are aimed at ensuring that Jubilee Party’s transformational agenda, especially the Big Four, is realised.

Ruto noted that his crusade has been misunderstood and antagonized his rivals, who allege he had started premature campaigns to succeed President Kenyatta.

He said that the culture of contesting election results has been for some time among the nation’s most troublesome vices, leading to the many electoral issues after each poll.

“Shida kubwa ya wakenya in viongozi wasiokubali kushindwa. Shida ya pili ni political conmen ambao kazi yao in kudanganya wakenya. (The nation’s leading problem are politicians who cannot accept defeat. The other are political conmen whose main intention is to fool Kenyans),” he added.
