Gor Mahia’s Kipkirui and Jacques Tuyisenge skin Ingwe live to close near title embrace

Gor Mahia lacked the manners of a visitor as they thrashed their long-time league rivals AFC Leopards 3-0 in a Kenya Premier League match played at Kasarani Stadium which was their second leg match as the season goes for a break.

The two sides who make the best of the Kenya Premier League whenever they meet were meeting for their 91st time which makes the highest number of times any of any other club to clash with another their first meeting being 5th May 1968 at City Stadium which if the domestic home of the green army.

The green army was the first to find the back net of their opponents after their goalkeeper spilt midfielder Francis Kahata’s cross that was directed to their opponent’s attacker Kipkirui finding it easy for him to tap it into the net the 23rd minute.

Lethal Nicholas Kipkirui was not satisfied with the one goal he had for his side and his undying efforts were awarded as he got a brace in the 60th minute, making it two the number of goals they hammered the side in their first leg match.

The green army pressed on for more and Rwandese forward Jacques Tuyisenge did not waste his chances as he found the net in the 64th minute.

Ingwe was lucky to pull one goal in the 80th minute through Vincent Oburu.

Gor Mahia now requires only one win to take home the Kenya Premier League for the third time in a row which is going to make it their third time to reach such a fete.

The green army now comfortably sit at the top of the league with eleven points ahead of second-placed Bandari who overtook Sofapaka. If Gor Mahia wins their next match they will be crowned Champions.

GorMahia next assignments will be against Vihiga, Posta Rangers while their last one will be against the slum boys of Mathare which is expected to take place on the 29th May tie by which they expect to have taken home the League.

Their rivals, on the other hand, will face Mount Kenya United, Tusker and the power boys of Western Stima but their chance of finishing eighth will look very minimal if they will lose any of their remaining matches
