TSC recognizes Tabichi’s award winning students

Teachers Service Commission CEO Dr Nancy Macharia has congratulated two students that have bagged a coveted global United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Award in the US on Friday.

Esther Amimo Anyanzwa and Salome Njeri of Keriko Secondary School, Nakuru on a prize of $2,000 (Sh200,000) for developing a device for visually impaired and deaf learners to measure length.

“Congratulations to Esther Amimo and Salome Njeri of Keriko Secondary School Nakuru for emerging winners of the UN Sustainable Development Goal Award during the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, 2019. You have made us proud,” said Dr Macharia.

The two girls are also teacher Peter Tabichi’s students– Tabichi shocked the world in April when he toppled thousands of competitors and was crowned the Global Teacher of the Year Award and Sh. 100M prize.

The competitions organised by The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair hosted over 1,800 students in Phoenix, USA.

The top science and engineering high school students were competing for an array of awards in every major science and engineering category.
