President Uhuru Kenyatta today hosted her Ethiopian Counterpart President Sahle-Work Zewde at Statehouse Nairobi. It is however DP William Ruto’s absence that has got people talking after he once again failed to show up and stand in solidarity with President Kenyatta.
This is not the first time DP Ruto failed to attend an important event hosted by President Kenyatta. It will be remembered that during the National rollout of the Huduma Namba Registration, Ruto was nowhere to be seen leading to a number of speculations among Kenyans.
Today was no different as he was once again missing in action at Statehouse.
It was President Uhuru Kenyatta and his wife Margret Kenyatta who were at the State House to receive his Ethiopian counterpart.
In his capacity as the second in command, Ruto’s presence during the courtesy call by the Ethiopian President was significant in terms of forging development fronts and cementing relationship between the two countries.
He however chose to limit himself to his Karen office where he inked sh 10 billion deal with World Bank to boost projects in the arid regions.
The mega project which is a joint collaboration between Kenya and the World Bank comes days after the DP’s visit to Turkana County.
At State House, President Uhuru and his visitor discussed a wide range of matters of mutual interest to the two nations key among them being ongoing engagements aimed at deepening diplomatic and bilateral ties between the neighbouring countries.
