The cat is finally out of the bag!  Zaheer Merhali Jhanda is among those behind the Fake Gold Syndicate that has rocked the country in the past few months.

Mr. Jhanda first made headlines when he went to the hague alongside MPs Aden Duale and Oscar Sudi to offer support for the then embattled Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto.

He made connections with the high and the mighty in the society and is known for his flamboyant lifestyle and celebrity status.

The man is heavily loaded with Cash, cash he has apparently made from engaging in dirty business.

He even had a shot a the Nyaribari Parliamentary seat back in 2013 on a Jubilee ticket and lost. He later tried his luck in 2017 on a Wiper ticket but as fate would have it, he lost again.

Fast foward, the man has been vastly mentioned in the ongoing Fake Gold Scam.

The man from Kisii enjoys a massive followership from the region with his large sums of money regularly donated to various causes during fundraisers.

His Journey to the Millionaires club started in Kisii where he was an event organizer some 20 years ago.

His family, which has Arab roots, has run businesses in Kisii town for a long time.

He later shifted base to Nairobi 10 years ago to try get the relevant connections to help him cultivate the celebrity image he so wanted to have.

Within no time, he struck friendships with the cronies of politicians, and soon the politicians themselves.

From then on, he was unstoppable, until earlier this year, when he became the centre of a complex gold fraud in which a Saudi royal was conned of Sh250 million.

Despite the grave allegations facing him, the man is so connected that even detectives fear him.

But as flamboyant as he is wealthy, Mr Jhanda, whose top academic qualification is a Form Four certificate, is equally politically and financially connected.

He counts Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and flamboyant Kisii businessman Don Bosco Gichana as his in-laws.

He also has links to William Ruto, Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mr Gichana, famous for donating a Hummer vehicle to Mr Odinga during the 2007 elections, was released from a prison in Tanzania in November last year after pleading guilty to money laundering charges.
