Sonko’s Wife honored at the mother’s humanitarian awards

Nairobi City County First Lady Primrose Mbuvi Sonko  was among the few woman who were honored in the 5th edition of Mother’s honors awards held at Light International School in Karen.

The awards were organized by True Story Kenya in conjunction with other partners, who seek to recognize and reward mothers who play a vital role in society.

Ms Mbuvi has been selected for the award due to working with street families, providing towels to the needy especially inmates and those living in slum areas and helping to uplift their lives through socioeconomic interventions.

Taking to his facebook page, Governor Sonko celebrated his wife,” I want to congratulate the First Lady for winning the mothers humanitarian service award together with 6 other women who won awards in different categories”He wrote.

“I used the opportunity to call for an end on violence against women. There appears to be an increase in the number of cases of violence against women. This is a very troubling phenomenon and we need to find the root cause”.


Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has been recognized as the pillar behind his wife’s work.

The categories include; humanitarian services, women empowerment, education, media, enforcement of law and order, leadership and informal sector upgrading

The other categories are; sports, tourism and travel, special needs education and entertainment.

These awards play a vital role in encouraging mothers to help impact the society in different ways.
