No plans to extend the Huduma Namba registration process, Says CS Matiang’i

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’ i has announced the progress of the much-hyped Huduma Namba registration where he said that the registration has seen about 31 million Kenyans who have registered.

“We have been working closely in the mobilisation exercise, the exercise has been going on for five weeks, We have registered 31m Kenyans; that is a very impressive number which represents about 65% of our projected population in the country in terms of registration,” said Matiang’ i

He further said that they are expecting an average of 40million Kenyans to have registered at least by end of the exercise. He further noted that Kenyans should not expect the date to be extended further as the exercise comes to a close on 18th May.

The Huduma Namba registration has been ongoing for five weeks now since President Kenyatta launched the exercise. However, there have been mishaps between the government and Kenyans after it was announced that it is a voluntary exercise.

The High Court further barred the government from forcing Kenyans to register. In addition, also barred it from using the data to withhold any services or bar anyone from accessing public facilities.
