Nyamira Police on the spot over missing wife

A middle-aged man from Mokomoni village in Nyamira County has put police officers attached to Ekerenyo police post on the spot over his missing wife.

Jared Osoro claimed that the officers arrested him together with his wife from their home on Thursday at 9 pm and took them to Ekerenyo police post on allegations of selling illicit brew.

“Police officers stormed our house and arrested me with my wife on claims that we are illicit brew dealers. At Ekerenyo police station, I was locked up in the police cells while my wife was ordered to remain outside,” he said.

A frustrated Osoro said the officers later released him on the wee hours of Friday morning unconditionally.

“The officers released me without telling me the whereabouts of my wife. Upon reaching home,  I didn’t find my wife. I called her parents in Suneka, Bonchari only to be told she is not there,” he stated.

He has appealed to local leaders to intervene so that police officers who arrested him produce his wife.

He further added that he has called all his wife’s relatives who have since confirmed to him that his wife is nowhere to be seen.

Nyamira OCPD Lilis Wachira said the matter is being investigated.
