Arsenal manager Unai Emery made history with Arsenal when he led them to this season’s Europa League final meaning he is the first manager in history to qualify for the final 4 times! Gabon striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored a hat-trick as Arsenal won 4-2 in the second leg of their semi-final tie with Valencia to guide the Gunners to a 7-3 aggregate win.
The Gunners will now face London rivals Chelsea in what will be an all English final and Arsenal’s first European final since they lost to Barcelona in the Champions League final back in 2006. It will Unai Emery’s fourth Europa League final in 6 years having guided Spanish club Sevilla to 3 consecutive Europa League triumphs.
The Former Paris Saint Germain manager was hired to replace Arsene Wenge last season with the sole aim of earning qualification to next season’s Champions League. They were on course to achieving that feat through a top 4 finish in the league but a disastrous seven day period towards the end of the season saw them lose 3 games in a row and with it went the top 4 hopes.
Unai Emery has however used his experience in Europa League to steer the Gunners into the final having failed to do so under Arsene Wenger last season. It is a historic feat for him and for the club too but they are fully aware that the job is not done yet, they still have to play Chelsea and should they win that match, it will be even more Historic for Emery and Arsenal.
