Revealed: Why Uhuru canceled Ruto’s mega rally in Murang’a

A mega rally in the name of an inter-denominational prayer meeting was about to go down in Murang’a, with deputy president Dr William Ruto being the chief guest.

However, the meeting was prematurely stopped. By Thursday morning, about 100 pro-Ruto allies had confirmed attendance before being hit by the bad news later on in the day.

Details have emerged that the heavy political undertones surrounding preparations for the forum were being interpreted as a public show of solidarity with the DP by the region that is the president’s backyard, and which, in some quarters, was being seen as sending signals of defiance.

It is now believed that the president’s intervention, either directly or indirectly, prompted the cancellation.

Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege confirmed that political temperatures forced the organisers to cancel the meeting.

She said although she was not part of the coordinating team, it was feared that politics would cloud the real intentions of the function.

Do you think the rally would have just ended as a prayer meeting should it have taken place?
