Cabinet Secretary for Health Sicily Kariuki has toured Nyandarua county on Friday in a bid to join Governor Francis Kimemia in strengthening the health sector in the area.
During the county visit, CS Kariuki launched the Linda Mama maternity programme at JM Kariuki hospital.
According to the CS, the program has resulted in the doubling of mothers delivering in public health facilities hence reduced maternal and neonatal fatalities.
She also commissioned a cancer treatment equipment– 64 slide CT scan machine at the JM Kariuki hospital in Nyandarua.
“This is one of the 37 CT Scan machines installed across the country for diagnosis and treatment planning,” stated CS Kariuki.
The CS lauded the two Cuban doctors working in Nyandarua County, a family physician and an orthopaedic surgeon– for working hand in hand with Kenyan Healthcare workers to address outwards referral of patients in the county.
The county also received vaccine preservation equipment, a motorbike and a vehicle to support immunization outreach in to help achieve 100% immunization coverage.
