Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is at loggerheads with the club’s board, after it emerged that the team will travel to play a friendly in the United States before the Europa League final.

According to the Italian, the team needs a few days’ rests before the Baku final against Arsenal and feels the trip to the USA is an unwelcome disruption.

“Now we need to rest. Unfortunately, we have to go to play in the United States,” Sarri said in his post-match interview after the win over Frankfurt.

“Because I think in this moment, we need to rest. We have 10 days to prepare for the final. We have to recover energy because we are really very tired,” he added.

The Blues travel to Leicester for their final Premier League match under little or no pressure knowing that they have already qualified for the Champions League next season.

The final between Chelsea and the Gunners will be played on May 29th in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, Eden Hazard has admitted that they dread facing Arsenal in the Europa League final after the two sides won their respective matches on Thursday night.

The Belgian scored the winning penalty as Chelsea saw off Eintracht Frankfurt 4-3 on penalties at Stamford Bridge after the two teams could not be set apart over 90 minutes in the two legs.

Speaking to BT Sport, Hazard confessed that Arsenal had become a ‘tougher’ opponent in recent years for the Blues, and it will be a difficult match in Baku.

“We have another game to play against Arsenal. Against them, we have struggled in the last two or three years. We need to go there in Baku and play a game with high quality and win the game,” he said.

Chelsea has only managed a single win in the last eight games against Unai Emery’s side, a 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge in an English Premier League match last season.

Arsenal will be ‘hungrier’ of the two sides as they know only a win in Baku will give them the Champions League ticket they badly need, after failing to finish in the top-four bracket in the Premier League.
