Property worth millions of shillings was reduced to ashes after an unknown arsonist set two dormitories on fire at Njega Boys High school in Kirinyaga County.

Kirinyaga County Director of Education Margaret Mwirigi confirmed that there were no casualties as the boys were in for their evening preps.

‘We are so sad considering that millions of money has gone to ashes!

The fire took place early in the morning at around 7:10am. Luckily the County fire brigade responded very fast. However, very little could be salvaged from the wreckage.

Investigations are already underway with collaboration between the Ministry of Interior officials and the County Directors Quality Assurance Officers to get to the root cause of the fire.

‘We shall look for measures to ensure students have somewhere else to sleep as they need to be in school.”
