On Wednesday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed the face of the royal baby to the world for the first time.
As we all know different people had different opinions and the majority left congratulatory messages to the parents of the royal baby.
But there is one media personality who went to extremes. A BBC radio presenter based in the UK by the name Danny Baker went to his Twitter handle and posted a picture that has been named “racist photo”
Danny Baker posted a picture of a monkey between a white well dressed couple and captioned it
Royal baby leaves hospital.
Here is the picture that Danny Baker Posted
The Tweer drew much backlash from people who believe that he was insinuating on Meghan’s heritage. Danny was forced to delete the picture.
Here are some of the comments
What shocks me about Danny Baker (@prodnose) posting this photo is that it seemingly never occurred to him how this might be adjudged racist.
How have you become that blind to the world Danny? A mixed-race Royal baby & so you searched out a photo with a chimp? WTAF?!
“Danny Baker” is 61 years old, he’s been an entertainer for decades, a radio show presenter and so on. How the fuck in 2019 can he possibly claim to be unaware of ne of the oldest and most offensive racist tropes of all???
He knew what he was doing. It says “royal baby leaves hospital” with a picture of a monkey. The only racism here is from Danny Baker. There is no confusion. Unbelievable 🙄
Although Baker later deleted the tweet and tried to defend himself that people read the wrong message from the tweet, it cost him his job, yes he got fired from BBC live and here is what he said after he was fired on Thursday morning.
Danny Baker was fired even after tendering his apologies and deleting the tweet. Here is Baker’s apology
“Sorry my gag pic of the little fella in the posh outfit has whipped some up. Never occurred to me because, well, mind not diseased.
“Soon as those good enough to point out its possible connotations got in touch, down it came. And that’s it.”
What do you think? did he deserve the sacking?
