Tenants ordered out of an apartment in Ruaka after parking lot’s cave-in

Wednesday morning was painful and frustrating to residents of an apartment block in Ruaka when they walk up into counting losses.

A section of the parking lot caved-in early morning, sinking several vehicles. However, no one was injured during the incident.

The residents have been ordered to leave the apartment after the incident.

Five vehicles were damaged when the parking space caved-in due to construction work at an adjacent plot.

According to Danny Mungai who lives in the block, the incident occurred Tuesday night following heavy rains.

β€œAt around 2.15am following a long night of rains, we heard a loud sound like thunder and immediately, our watchmen came knocking on our doors and when we went outside, we realised that part of the perimeter wall had collapsed and part of the parking had caved in,” he stated.

Residents are now counting losses, with fears of more damage in the remaining section.
