Sonko Reveals Why he fired Kamanda’s Son in Law

The war between Mike Sonko and Jubilee Nominated MP Maina Kamanda is well documented. The two have a history even before Sonko became governor with rumours that Kamanda wanted to rig in Peter Kenneth during the Jubilee nominations.

But what you didn’t know is that Sonko once employed Kamanda’s son in law as his Finance Minister. Danvas Makori was sacked in August last year after the governor accused him of working with people who were fighting him.

On Tuesday, during an interview on NTV’s sidebar, governor Sonko spilled the beans on why he really fired Makori.

He said that Makori was colluding with a Personal Assistant to former governor Evans Kidero to steal county funds.

Sonko says that he used the DCI to get Makori’s communication history from Safaricom. The governor read one of the messages that the two allegedly exchanged on live TV.

‘Goodmorning Danvas Makori. Just saw some officers from the Treasury and they say we try a smaller figure of 10 million each week and see how that works.’

Sonko says that another message from Makori had asked Kidero’s PA not to worry about his boss (Sonko) because he pretends to be too smart but he is just an academic dwarf.

Sonko says that he does not know if Makori’s father in law knew what he was doing at city hall.
