Two suspected gangsters arrested over mass killings in Matungu

Kakamega Police have arrested two suspects while four others are being interrogated following a spate of killings in Matungu Sub County. 

According to the area County Commissioner, Abdulrizak Jaldesa  the four were being  grilled  to establish if they were accomplices to the crimes as the other two await arraignment in court.

Jaldesa and the Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya implored the area residents to maintain peace after 10 people were killed by gangsters in Matungu constituency about a month ago.

The two who were speaking at Huduma Centre in Kakamega stressed that peace was a prerequisite for development in the county.

The County Commissioner noted that 1,060,000 people in the area had registered in the ongoing Huduma namba registration since it kicked off 34 days ago.

Separately, three people escaped death narrowly on Tuesday afternoon after a trailer lost control in Mai Mahiu before ramming into several vehicles.

The three sustained slight injuries in the 3pm accident, according to the Naivasha Sub County Police Commander Samuel Waweru.

The Naivasha police boss told KBC on phone that the truck which was traveling from Nairobi towards Mai Mahiu lost control after its brakes failed as it descended down the steep slope.

Waweru appealed to motorists to be careful when they use the long steel stretch to Mai Mahiu from Nairobi.
