1n 2013, Kiraithe was appointed as the general manager in charge of security at the Kenya Airports Authority, a position that many Kenyans termed as an appreciation for having protected the government while in office.

In 2016, Kiraithe was named the National Government spokesman, reviving the office that had previously been scrapped by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

A statement from State House Deputy Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita said the appointment of the police senior officer was “to ensure timely, consistent, coherent, and coordinated communication to the public on all matters relating to the national government’s agenda”.

But in the wake of May 7, 2019, Kiraithe who has served for over three years was replaced by Linda Nchi Spokesman (Rtd) Colonel Cyrus Oguna.

In a statement signed by ICT CS Joe Mucheru, the move takes effect immediately as the government rebuilds its communication structure.

“In line with directions from the Executive Office of the President through the Head of the Public Service, the office of the Government Spokesman shall be domiciled at the ICT Ministry,” the statement read.

Mr Kiraithe, who has a long and distinguished history of public service mainly in the security sector will now be out of the public service as the main reason for his replacement yet to be known.
