ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has appointed Cyrus Odhiambo Oguna, a career military officer, as government spokesman.
In a statement, Mr. Mucheru said Col (Rtd) Oguna will have an oversight role over two government news gathering and dissemination channels- Kenya News Agency and MyGov.
In a statement signed by ICT CS Joe Mucheru, the move takes effect immediately as the government rebuilds its communication structure.
“In line with directions from the Executive Office of the President through the Head of the Public Service, the office of the Government Spokesman shall be domiciled at the ICT Ministry,” the statement read.
Oguna replaces spokes person Eric Kiraithe.
However, opposition has already been met Joe as senator Moses Wetangula has revealed that Mucheru has appointed and gazetted five postal Corporation board members all from his community.
He has questioned how Mucheru is helping President Uhuru’s commitment to inclusivity and healing the nation.
Wetangula has said he must revoke the appointment.
