What Barcelona Said To Liverpool After Salah, Firmino Injuries Confirmed

Barcelona beat Liverpool comfortably to take a 3-0 advantage away from the first leg in Spain, and the Reds’ slim chance of recovering have taken another blow in the form of Salah’s injury.

The Spanish champions were quick to respond after the news broke – choosing to send a message of support.

They said: “Games like these are for world-class players. Get well soon!”

Salah was stretchered off during Liverpool’s win over Newcastle on Saturday and Klopp revealed earlier today that the Egyptian will not be risked.

He said: “It is concussion and that means he is not allowed to play.

“He feels ok, but it is not enough for a medical point of view. He can play at the weekend.”

When asked how his side will approach the Barcelona fixture now two of his star forwards are unavaliable, Klopp admitted the situation is far from ideal.

“The approach? We try to win the game. That makes sense,” Klopp added.

“The situation is not what you want to have.

“You can’t play against Barcelona and tell the world, ‘watch this.’

“We try to win the game. If at a specific moment they give us an opportunity to go to the next round we try to do it.

“Together with our supporters it’s been a long season. There’s a little chance to make it longer but these are the last two home games of an incredible season.”

Liverpool will need to score at least three goals to have any chance of reaching a second consecutive Champions League final.

As well as balancing problems within his own squad, Klopp singled out Lionel Messi as Barcelona’s main threat.

Klopp continued: “Wherever Messi is, he will be difficult to deal with.

“If you take risks against Barcelona they punish you. You have to be solid all of the time.”
