There has been a high number of emerging higher learning institutions with some suspected to be emerging for the sake of business.
Quality of education has been compromised in some of these institutions. This is one of the reasons that might have stirred an action. The government has suspended registration of new universities with immediate effect.
Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha says the move is informed by the existing high numbers of universities which are already too many.
The no nonsense CS has also cited duplication of courses, saying that the sate has no money to finance some of these institutions.
