Embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is staring at a very thick rebellion from his very own backyard of Kiambu.

After falling out with his Deputy, Senator and a number of Legislators from the region, Waititu now has to deal with Kiambu Women Rep Gathoni Wa Muchomba.

Wa Muchomba gave him 14 days to explain “weird” expenditure in county’s financial statement.

She threatened to lead residents to close down Waititu’s office. Speaking at Athi village in Juja where she donated Sh2 million worth of chicks to cluster groups, Wa Muchomba accused Waititu of using his office to enrich himself.

“This man will milk us to the grave,” said Wa Muchomba. She claimed the governor had misappropriated millions of shillings allocated to the Kaa Sober initiative.

Wa Muchomba has also accused of mischief owing to the fact that the Governor claimed that he was not aware of the bizzare sections of his County Government’s budget and expenditure.

According to Ms Wa Muchomba, excuses about the controversial expenses are just hot air.

She said it was part of the governor’s plot to divert public attention from phony imprests, ballooning wage bill and the Kaa sober programme which highlights possible theft of money running into millions of shillings.

“Waititu knows exactly where those figures came from and you might be surprised that he was the one who fixed them,” Ms Wa Muchomba said.

This is not the first time Wa Muchomba is taking on Waititu head on.

It will be remembered that last year, Wa Muchomba called Governor Waititu’s style of fighting alcohol addiction in his county as a waste of time and resources.

Wa Muchomba said Governor Waititu’s rehabilitation programme where addicts are paid Sh300 per day for doing manual jobs is wasting resources on addicts who use their pay to drink more alcohol.

“Although the initiative to rehabilitate illicit alcohol and drugs addicts is noble, it loses meaning when the victims spend the day doing manual jobs, and later get paid because they end up using the cash to buy alcohol,” she told the media back then.
