Kiambu voters beg Uhuru to save their ejaculation

We vote for many reasons – a sense of duty, a desire to participate, and so on – but once the voting is complete and it’s back to work, Kenyan voters sit back and wonder what they just did.

Kenya’s Widespread public ignorance poses serious challenges to the theory of democratic government. Voters often not only don’t understand the issues under public deliberation, often they don’t know which politician or party is on what side of the issue.

Currently, Kiambu citizens are a disappointed lot by their own actions to wake up early in the morning and lineup in the sun only to show Kenyans the level of ignorance on matters important to them.

The Kiambu voters dilemma is the difference between an incompetent government and an unlucky one.

Kiambu governor alias Clifford got the name when he tried to change his life to earn the name Clifford Ndung’u Waititu who legally, it is a different person.

In an effort to prove his claim that the MP has no university degree from Punjab University, former Kiambu governor William Kabogo had dragged waititu to a court battle to bar him from contesting in the 2017 general election.

Mr Waititu said he studied at the university, using the name Clifford Ndung’u Waititu but Mr Kabogo said he studied at the same university but did not see Mr Waititu.

When he is not throwing stones in Nairobi, moving rivers to make way for buildings or campaigning for Deputy President William Ruto, Ferdinand Ndung’u Waititu, is trending for the wrong reasons.

This time around, he was on the spot for his spectacular failure to account before a Senate committee questionable expenditures.

When Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, the chairman of the Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee, read to him his own county expenditure reports that showed that they had budgeted for, among others, retired presidents’ pension and the South Sudan peace process, Mr Waititu drew a big blank.

In front of cameras, the county CEO was clueless as he admitted that he had no idea how those strange items totalling to Sh2.5 billion found their way into his budget for the financial year 2017/2018.

Reports of wanton theft of public resources in Kiambu County continue to draw mixed reactions from leaders and ordinary Kenyans, with the majority expressing their displeasure with the plunder going on in counties.

The report by Auditor-General Edward Ouko showed that the county allocated Sh973 million for coordination of State House functions, Sh58 million for the South Sudan peace process, and Sh804 million for free primary education.

All these functions fall under the national government.

While some ridiculed the Punjab University graduate, others called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to arrest the governor.

Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina said President Kenyatta, the DCI and the EACC should intervene and save Kiambu.

It’s like an ejaculation which is sweet but cannot be reversed later and you have to deal with the consequences.
