Kanu General Secretary Nick Salat will have to wait longer before he can land a state job. This is after the name of KANU die-hard supporter didn’t feature among President Kenyatta’s recent nominees for parastatals and ambassadorial jobs

About one week ago, rumour was circulating, stating that Nick Salat had been appointed to chair the board of directors of Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK).

But on Friday Freda Ng’ang’a was announced the PCK board chair, dashing Salat’s hopes. Nick Salat may, therefore, have to contend with his Moi family duties of accompanying Gideon Moi to functions and running his various errands.

Mr Salat has variously acted as an usher and master of ceremonies at Kabarak when dignitaries visit and during ceremonies. Salat who served former President Moi has remained loyal to the independent party and it was expected that President Uhuru will reward Salat with a post in a way to honoring KANU and Gideon Moi.

Recently, Salat came out to disown a “fake” Facebook account under his name, which has been used to discredit Deputy President William Ruto. He termed it a fabricated account being used to tarnish his own name. Salat said he only runs one Facebook account, which has been inactive for a while.

Salat he has always preferred voicing his political opinions publicly, rather than on social media. The Kanu politician has never shied from taking on the Deputy President in public.

He urged the public to ignore the account and said he has already written to the Facebook administrators, advising them of the “imposter” and requesting them to deactivate it.

“In 2022, Gideon Moi will run for the presidency… Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga will support him and our brother William Ruto will cry,” read one of the posts.  This attracted a lot of criticisms especially from Ruto’s backyard in Rift Valley.
