Interesting things happen in Kenya each passing day. Construction of controversial Sh2.4 million Kirwa bridge at Sotik Sub County will go on as scheduled, Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso has insisted.

Officials from National Construction Authority (NCA) earmarked the bridge for demolition last week following criticism from a section of social media users who questioned its safety and quality.

But on Sunday, a furious Laboso accused her unnamed political opponents of spearheading the campaigns, adding that their intention is to derail her from working for the people.

“I have taken up the matter with the NCA officials who marked it without engaging or even doing tests on the materials used,” the governor told journalists during the launch of a public portal platform that will be used by the electorate to engage the county in matters development.

The county chief said she would not be distracted by the claims, saying her administration will continue discharging its mandate without fear. She dared the NCA to demolish the bridge and accused it of being used by political operatives to tarnish her reputation as a governor.

“We are well aware of the negative politics being peddled around this county. This county is known for making political noises and the issues raised against Kirwa footbridge are no different,” she Said.
