Freed from murder charges Friday, 3rd, May, 2019, Diana Chelele, a celebrated Kalenjin artiste’s husband can breathe with relief after close to a decade of court battle.
Mr Eric Musila was the prime suspect in the murder of Chelele in 2016, which shook the entire Kenyan entertainment scene.
Chelele’s body had been discovered in her home with deep panga cuts all over her body.
The husband then, Mr Musila was to take police in a wild goose chase for weeks before he was finally apprehended.
Police had found Chelele’s body in Bomet County yet Musila was arrested in Nakuru.
“He travelled from Nairobi on Tuesday, January 5 (2016), to Kericho where the signals show he moved from one bar to another and kept on calling a number belonging to the deceased,” reported the officers at the time.
But before the wife died, Musila was accused in 2022 of killing an Eldoret-based surveyor, Mr Eliud Kipchirchir.
Charged with the murder of the surveyor in a Naivasha Court, Musila and Chelele pleaded not guilty.
In the head of Musila, he was battling charges not only against the murder of his wife,but also that of the surveyor.
