How man publicly butchered OCS to death in Embu

Investigations into the murder of an Embu chief were met by a turn of events as OCS Joseph Kinyua of Chuka Police Station, alongside two officers and an informer were attacked by a rogue suspect.

The three were attacked while approaching a butchery at Ugweri Market in Embu County on Wednesday.

According to Embu East Deputy County Commissioner George Omollo, when the three approached the butchery, a suspect identified as David Ikaaba and his workers raised alarm and attacked the officers.

Omollo said the suspect cut the OCS several times on the head and tried to flee but ended up shot by the other officers. The assailants also attacked the informer and cut him several times, but he was rescued by the other police officers.

Main suspect David was pronounced dead on arrival at Tenri Hospital where he was rushed after police shot him.

“The OCS was rushed to Tenri Hospital in Embu where he succumbed to the injuries on arrival. The informer was rushed to Tenri Hospital and later referred to the Embu Level Five Hospital Embu in critical condition,” said Omollo.

The officers and informer were on a mission to arrest suspect in connection with the murder of a chief from Kamaindi location in Tharaka Nithi County last year.
