Eldoret police finally get hold of notorious gang

Two robbery suspects are in Langas police custody after they stormed into one of the premises and killed a motorbike operator at Bugundoi area in Uasin Gishu County.

Thomas Elepelem Edong’ and Paul Marai Njoroge are alleged to have committed the offence last week before they were intercepted at Hawai-Kimumu estate.

According to police detective investigating the matter, Avedi Kinambuga, the two notorious thugs were on the list of the wanted criminals, who had regularly involve in series criminal activities, robbing residents of Uasin Gishu and other neighbouring counties using motorbikes at night.

Langas Police OCPD Wilson Abdupa confirmed that the two were arrested while trying to commit another robbery incident at Ngeria area Kesses Constituency within the county.

“The two suspects are very dangerous people in this county, according to a tip-off from our sources reveals, the suspects are alleged to have hit a motorcyclist known as bodaboda and stole his motorbike. The victim, a middle was later rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead,” said Abdupa.

He said the same gangsters accompanied by those still at large, staged another robbery attempt in Ngeria village about 25 kilometers from Eldoret town. Abdupa explained that while armed with crud weapons including pangas, they forcibly attacked another person, Kelvin Kiptoo who was waiting for his customers before fleeing away with his bike.

“Some local residents called our office informing us that two suspected robbers who are strangers have been spotted along Eldoret-Iten road near Hawai area, but when our officers cornered them and arrested one, other accomplishes disappeared. However after interrogating him, he led us to where his colleague was. We arrested him and also recovered the motorbike stolen from the last victim,” The OCPD added.

He said the suspects will be arraigned in court and charged with offence of robbery with violence after the completion of the investigations. “I am appealing to anyone with information concerning stolen items to inform the nearest police station or they come and check where the items recovered here belongs to them,” he said.
