Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka Shuts Down Man United Speculation

Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka has today moved to put an end to the rumours that he could depart the club this summer, amid links with Manchester United.

Wan-Bissaka, a 21-year-old right-back, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most impressive young players this season.

The English U21-international came up through the youth ranks of Palace, before breaking into the first-team setup of the Eagles during the second-half of last season in the midst of an injury crisis.

And to say that Wan-Bissaka has since gone on to take advantage of the opportunity afforded to him by Roy Hodgson would be something of an understatement.

After appearing in 7 league outings between February and the end of the campaign last time out, the gifted stopper has since gone on to start in 33 of Palace’s 36 Premier League fixtures this season.

Wan-Bissaka’s impressive physical attributes are fully matched by his abilities on the ball, with the fact that the youngster was generally deployed as a winger during his youth made evident by his frequent driving runs out of defence.

‘Dribbled past on just 6 occasions’
What makes the 21-year-old such a unique talent, though, is that, added to all of the aforementioned traits, Wan-Bissaka is a genuinely superb defender.

As was brought to light in an article from the respected WhoScored.com in January, to that point in the season, Wan-Bissaka possessed the best tackle success rate across the top-5 leagues in Europe:

‘Of the 83 times that he has faced up an opponent this season, Wan-Bissaka has been dribbled past on just six occasions. This leaves a success rate of 92.8 per cent.’
