Former Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Zezekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with a group of politicians from the rift valley counties.
Majority of the politicians who attended the meeting in Nairobi are perceived to be against Deputy President Wiliam Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
He contested for the gubernatorial seat in 2017 but lost to Jackson Mandago.
Among those present in the meeting include former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto, Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny and his Moiben counterpart Silas Tiren.
Kutuny and Tiren have been fierce critics of DP Ruto.
Recently rejuvenated Kutuny sarcastically said that the government is being run by President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM leader Raila Odinga and himself.
“I want to say that even if you oppose the handshake, it’s going nowhere, it’s here to stay. If you’re tired with it, just quit and get out of this country and leave us in peace,” he said.
Mr. Kutuny, Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter and Moiben’s Silas Tiren, have been leading the onslaught against Deputy President William Ruto for many months now. They accuse him of doing little to help maize farmers.
A source who has sought anonymity has hinted that buzeki has been on recent times holding meetings for the 2022 preparations.
He hinted that the deputy president has been sending him to negotiate with the rivals.
