Ruto and Gideon Moi Invite the Curse of Elders After Making a Mockery of Them

Just who will be able to unite DP William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi? For sometime now, these two great sons of the Rift Valley region have not been seeing eye to eye politically with each and everyone of them seeing the other as a threat to his political future.

William Ruto has his sights set on taking over from President Uhuru Kenyatta and he therefore see’s Gideon Moi, who also has Presidential ambitions as a barrier he will have to do away with for him to stand any chance of getting to Statehouse.

Their rivarly has been a great cause of concern for a number of leaders and elders from the Rift Valley who have argued that the duos bad political blood with have diverse effects on the people of Rift Valley and their political future at large.

With this in mind, a plan was mounted to help bring the two bitter rivals together. Powerful Kalenjin elders were tasked to forsee this noble venture.

The Kalenjin Council of elders known as Myoot has been on a mission for the past one year to bridge the gap between Ruto and Gideon but their noble efforts have so far bore no fruits.

The Elders seem to have even given up already on their quest to unite the two as they have argued that the two are irreconcilable.

The Egos of the two leaders has been blamed for the failure to reach a mutual agreement between them.

The leaders also mistrust each other, a factor that has had a big negative impact on the mediation talks.

The Ruto camp want Gideon Moi to shelve his 2022 Presidential ambitions in favour of DP William Ruto while Gideon Moi’s camp has insisted that the only way to do that will be if a Ruto Presidency will benefit the entire Nation and not just the Kalenjin Community or Ruto as an individual.

“For Ruto, it’s either his way or the highway. For Gideon, there is nothing personal but he has insisted that all actions and decisions must benefit of all Kenyans, not an individual,” claimed one of the emissaries involved in the talks.” Said Paul Leleito, the Council’s Chairman.

“We had good intentions of having our leaders and people united… We only wanted them [Ruto and Gideon] to listen to our calls and advice. They refused,” he added.

It should also be noted that it is not only the elders that have tried to unite these two big political bigwigs, a number of influential people from the Rift Valley region have also given their best to bring them to the table and ultimately to a mutual agreement all but to no avail.

Led by former powerful minister Franklin Bett, the Influential Persons have been on a Unifying journey of the two since 2014 but have had no meaningful result coming their way.

“Both are full of ego, I have been on that journey, I started in 2014 trying to talk to them but I could not make any breakthrough. Self-centredness, ego, and hardlines took center stage and that is why you see this bad blood between the two,” Bett revealed

Ruto and Gideon Moi have now both been sent warnings that they have all to loose should not they join hands enroute to 2022.

Well, it remains to be seen if Gideon and Ruto will heed to the calls by the elders and bury the hatchet once and for all.
