How Atwoli has turned Labour Day celebration to a be a Nasa Affair

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli is today leading the celebration of Labour Day in the country.

Labour CS Ukur Yattani is among the government officials who are representing the government.

But what has turned the eyebrows is what has appeared as a one sided event. Political leaders aligned to NASA coalitions are the top officials who graced the event.

NASA leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula were also seen at the park even as as a section of workers marched past the dais during the celebrations.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Hon Raila Odinga were expected to grace the event but they have missed.

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is among the few politicians who Jubilee who attended the event at Uhuru Park.

On Tuesday,  Kenyan employers said they will oppose any call during Labour Day celebrations to raise the general minimum wage.

The federation has further condemned reports that Cotu is requesting the government to increase the wage by 15 per cent in exchange for their support for the proposed Housing Levy.

​Most working Kenyans usually have a lot expectation from the government on this day.
