“Employers don’t dare touch our payslips on housing levy”Sossion

Kenya National Union Of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has been on the front line fighting for the rights of Kenyan teachers.

Sossion has now dared employers to deduct housing levy tax proposed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We are telling employers don’t dare touch our payslips on housing levy”.

Speaking during labour day celebrations,Sossion said that the government should learn to respect the existence and operation of union in order to achieve a strong economy.

“A strong economy depends on a government that respects the existence and operation of strong unions. It is shaming today that as we are gathered here, FKE has boycotted this event.” Wilson Sossion said.

The government was expected to start deducting 1.5 percent housing levy from all employees in the public and private sector beginning March 1 however it was suspended.

The housing levy continues to face rejections.
