The father of a strangled Kisii County Government staff has opened up about what transpired before the death of her daughter.
Dorcah Nyabuto, 24 had just landed her first job at the County government after moving in two years ago with her killer husband, Geoffrey Marita.
Dorcah’s father explained that he had been called by his wife to visit Dorcah, who at the time, the wife said had fallen sick.
On the way to Kisii, the father received numerous phone calls with relatives calling in to grieve with him.
They proceeded to the hospital mortuary from where they found their daughter lying dead.
Marita who is under police custody admitted to killing his wife according to police reports.
On the Sunday, 28th April, Marita is said to have returned home late from a drinking spree.
Questioned by his wife on why he was arriving late, an argument ensued, and before she knew it, Marita was strangling Dorcah on the floor.
Her screams fell on deaf ears, and trouble only began when she started puking.
A shocked Marita would later watch his wife die, drag her atop the bed and cover her with blankets, perhaps to give the impression that she had died in her sleep.
But with a guilty conscience pressing, Marita would later attempt suicide by diving into River Kuja in Kigati area, before guards rescued him.
The guards would later transfer Marita to the police from where he was detained, awaiting murder charges.
